Health Equipment Donated to 17 Health Institutions
In a landmark gesture of philanthropy, the Ngemba Cultural and Development Association, Georgia USA, in collaboration with MedShare and the Mary Alieh Foundation, has donated 40 feet worth of health equipment valued at over 350 million FCFA to 17 health institutions across the North West Region. The donation ceremony, held on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, was presided over by the Governor of the North West Region, Adolphe Lele Lafrique.
Governor Lafrique lauded the donation, noting that such initiatives are in line with government policy to improve access to healthcare services under universal health coverage. He emphasized that this contribution comes at a crucial time to bolster the North West Regional Assembly’s Peace and Development Initiative (PDI) program, which aims to enhance livelihoods throughout the region.
“This initiative aligns perfectly with our government’s objectives to ensure better healthcare access for all citizens,” Governor Lafrique stated. “It also significantly supports the ongoing efforts of the PDI program to improve the quality of life for our people.”
Barrister Akufor Aneneba, President of the Ngemba Cultural and Development Association, Georgia USA, expressed that this donation is a way for members of the diaspora to give back to their community. He highlighted that the initiative was driven by a thorough situation analysis, needs assessment, and advocacy led by Dr. Che Soh Kingsley, the Regional Delegate of Public Health for the North West.
Dr. Nsame Denis, Director of the Bamenda Regional Hospital, expressed profound gratitude to the donors, assuring that the equipment would be used effectively to meet the needs of the population. “We are committed to ensuring that this equipment benefits the people and enhances our healthcare services,” Dr. Denis affirmed.
HRH Fon Angwafo IV, the Fon of Mankon, also commended the initiative, urging other individuals from the region to follow this example and invest in their communities. “Such efforts are vital for the advancement of our communities and the improvement of living standards,” he remarked.
This collaboration between local and international organizations showcases the impact of collective efforts in addressing healthcare needs and enhancing the well-being of communities in the North West Region.
The health supplies are expected to significantly enhance healthcare services in the Ngemba community and the region at large. The North West Regional Assembly was represented at the ceremony by the Director of General Affairs, Alombah Anderson Akondi, further emphasizing the importance of this donation to regional development efforts.
